How many cubic feet are in a cubic yard? There are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard.
-
How many wheelbarrows are in a cubic yard? The number of wheelbarrows in a cubic yard depends on the size of your wheelbarrow. For example, if your wheelbarrow holds 3 cubic feet, you will need 9 wheelbarrows to equal one cubic yard.
-
How much mulch or soil do I need? How much does 1 cubic yard cover? One cubic yard of mulch or soil will cover approximately 100 square feet at a depth of 3 inches. To estimate how many cubic yards you need, use the following formulas (make sure all measurements are in feet): For a rectangle-shaped area: (Length × Width × Depth) ÷ 27 For a circular area: (3.14 × Radius² × Depth) ÷ 27

What is the white chalky substance on top of my stone? The white, chalky substance is called efflorescence. This forms when salts naturally present in concrete products are brought to the surface by moisture. Efflorescence typically disappears on its own as the salts are released, which may take anywhere from a few months to a few years. For this reason, it’s recommended to avoid sealing concrete products for at least one year post-installation. If the efflorescence is still a concern, products are available to help clean it away.
-
How do I determine how much material my pickup truck can carry? The weight of materials varies depending on the type (e.g., mulch, soil, stone). We can provide an approximate weight per cubic yard or skid to help you estimate. However, it’s your responsibility to ensure your vehicle can safely handle the load. For safety reasons, we reserve the right to refuse loading if we believe the vehicle is not equipped to carry the material safely.
-
Can I load bulk materials like mulch or soil into my car?For cars or vans, we’re happy to assist with loading products packaged in Adams Easy Bags. However, we do not permit shoveling bulk materials directly into vehicles or personal bins for safety and cleanliness reasons.
-
What if I’m unsure about my vehicle’s capacity? If you’re uncertain, consult your vehicle’s manual for weight limits or ask our team for guidance. We’re here to help you make safe and informed decisions about transporting materials.
-
How much space is required for delivery? We typically need 10 feet of clearance width for delivery. Be sure to account for overhanging eaves, hydro wires, and tree limbs as well. If you have concerns about access, contact us to discuss clearance requirements for different truck sizes. For tight spaces, consider ordering Adams Easy Bags, which can be delivered by hand or cart to your desired location.
-
Can the dump truck leave the material on my lawn?Yes, as long as there are no hydro wires, trees, or access issues, we can leave the material on your front lawn. However, please note that dump trucks are heavy and may leave ruts or damage the lawn. Any damage beyond the curb line is at the customer’s risk, as R.M. Adams Trucking is not responsible for such occurrences.
-
Can I choose the exact time for my delivery? While we aim to accommodate your preferences, dump truck deliveries are scheduled within a two-hour window, and flatbed deliveries are arranged daily with morning or afternoon options. Traffic and weather conditions may affect timing, so we cannot guarantee an exact delivery time. If you won’t be home, please mark the delivery spot (e.g., a chalk “X” on the driveway or a stake on the lawn), and we’ll leave the receipt in your mailbox.
-
How do you deliver two products at the same time? Our split-gate trucks are equipped with two tailgates—one at the back and one in the middle. The driver will release the back tailgate to deliver the first product, then pull forward to release the middle tailgate for the second product. We have two sizes of split-gate trucks, so for specific inquiries about amounts and types of products that can be delivered together, please contact us.
-
